About Our Cover (Summer 2009)

“Fish for Breakfast,” our cover painting for this issue, is an illustration of the post-Resurrection story told in Jn 21, painted by Laura James as part of a series commissioned for a Book of Gospels published by Liturgy Training Publications. Ms. James, born and bred in Brooklyn, N.Y. of Antiguan heritage, is a self-taught painter. In her many paintings of religious subjects she draws on the iconography of Ethiopian Christian art. She now works and lives with her family in the Bronx, N.Y.
