Advertising Specifications

Color
CHURCH is normally a 64-page magazine printed on bright white stock, with 32 full color (CMYK) pages and 32 pages printed in black plus one Pantone Uncoated (PMS) color selected by the editors for the issue. A 16-page glossy center section accounts for half the CMYK pages. Extra copies of the center section are printed and circulated as a freestanding publication. Center section color costs are discounted.

For the two-color pages, the prices above are for black & white. To use black and the assigned PMS color of the issue, add $50. For black & white or two-color ads, the black must be PMS or grayscale—there can be no CMYK or RGB color in the ad file. To use our PMS color, set the angle as Magenta. Full color ads must be CMYK, with no PMS or RGB color in the file.

Covers are all full color (CMYK), and color is included in the listed price. For full CMYK color on inside pages, add $500; for center section CMYK add $250.


Digital Requirements
PDF high resolution files are the preferred format: Optimized for print with fonts embedded in the file and all graphics scanned at 300 or higher resolution. Art, photos, logos, etc., must be scanned at 300 resolution. JPEG files not accepted. Four color ads must be submitted in CMYK color only (no PMS or RGB).

Fonts
Use only postscript fonts for Quark files. Use actual typefaces and not menu attributes in Quark. For example, if you need palatino bold, use the font named “bold palatino bold” and not palatino regular made bold by applying the bold attribute. Supply all screen and printer fonts used in ad.

Graphics
Color correction, sizing, and rotation must be done in the original application, i.e., Illustrator or Photoshop for graphics, not in Quark. Do not send LZW compressed files. For best results printing shades of gray, use 20% or higher tinting.
